How Often Should You Have Your Gutters Cleaned?

How Often Should You Have Your Gutters Cleaned?

You should be cleaning your gutters at least once every year. That’s every home… once a year… no matter where you live…  Even if you have gutter guards… But… some homes need it more often. And to be honest, some homes can go 2 years…It all depends on your home and it’s surroundings…

If you have large trees close to your home, you’ll notice leaves and small branches constantly dropping onto your roof and settling into your gutters. If your home has trees close by you’ll need to get your gutters cleared at least 2 times a year.

Sometimes you’ll need to clean your gutters more often than twice a year.  If you those trees are large gum trees or pine trees, you may need to clean your gutters 3 to 4 times per year.

The reason is, gum leaves and pine needles fall all year round and they can build up in your gutters very quickly. You might be thinking… 3 to 4 times a year is too much. For a lot of people it is too much but if you live in a suburb that doesn’t have mains water and you get your water from rain water tanks then you might want to reconsider this.

Think about all of the dirt and animal faeces that can build up in your gutters that carries the water that you drink and bathe in. In this case you might want to get your gutters cleaned every couple of months. YUK!

How often should you clean gutters with Gutter Guards?

If you have gutter guards installed you’ll still need to get your gutters cleaned every 12 months…Gutters can clog up, exposing you to the risk of flood and mould spreading through your home.

How often do you clean gutters with no trees close by?  Ok, so if you have no trees near your home and gutters, you’ll still need to get your gutters cleaned once every 12 months…The reason is, leaves only make up part of the debris that clog up your gutters…

Keeping your gutters clean throughout the year is easy… You just need a gutter cleaning maintenance plan… Which we can co-ordinate for you!! Much like smoke alarm compliance, this works in the same way.

We set the schedule and book you in for your next gutter clean. Then we send you reminders a couple of weeks before your gutters are due to be cleaned…
